Scottie Scheffler revealed he refuses to ask his long-time friend Jordan Spieth for seating help. During the Arnold Palmer Invitational press conference, the two-time Major winner explained why.

Scheffler attended the Masters Champions Dinner for the first time in 2023 after his 2022 win at Augusta National. However, when he later won the Masters again in 2024, turned to 2007 champion Zach Johnson for seating help.

Speaking at a press conference during the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the 29-time PGA Tour winner explained, “Zach and Jordan always sat next to each other, and I definitely didn't ask Jordan to sit by him, because he would have done something to make sure that I didn't have a place to sit!”

Scheffler said he turned to Zach Johnson and asked where he planned to sit that year. Johnson told him his spot and allowed him to join.

And the PGA Tour pro had good reason to be cautious. After all, Spieth is known for pranking fellow golfers. Back in 2015, when then-rookie Justin Thomas told Spieth he would take his parking spot, he learned a hard lesson.

Jordan Spieth actually had the rookie's car towed away. "I’m not going to be outdone by a rookie," the golfer later joked.

However, Jordan Spieth isn't the only one Scheffler doesn't sit beside.

The 2025 Open Championship winner said he does not sit near Jack Nicklaus or Tiger Woods during the Masters Champions Dinner, pointing to a long-standing pattern around the table. 

According to Scheffler, there are no fixed seats for the event, but there is an unwritten rule at the table regarding champions and veterans.

"There are no necessarily assigned seats, but I'm definitely not going to sit in the area where Tiger and Jack sit. Like, there are kinds of spots where you feel you'll naturally flow into," said Scottie Scheffler.
