Scottie Scheffler has already won the Masters, the PGA Championship, and The Open Championship. Only the U.S. Open is missing for him to complete one of golf’s rarest achievements.
On Wednesday at Trump National Doral, he spoke to reporters and clearly shared what he is thinking right now. Speaking ahead of the 2026 Cadillac Championship in Miami, the world No. 1 was asked if he ever thinks about completing the Grand Slam.
His answer was calm, honest, and gave a clear idea of his mindset. "I never stood there in the mirror and said, I have to do this," Scheffler said. "But this was always something that I dreamed about doing."

He grew up at Royal Oaks, watching professional golfers practice. He even wore pants to practices and junior golf events because he wanted to look more like a pro. Over time, he quietly worked hard and became the best golfer in the world.
Scheffler's tone shifted when asked what a U.S. Open title would mean to him. "I love my country," he said. "I would love to be able to win my national open."
He said that Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, this year’s course, suits the way he plays. Scheffler has done well at the U.S. Open before, and now he is going there with one main goal: to win it.
Scottie Scheffler on Back-to-Back Runner-Ups and Building Momentum
Scheffler has work to do at Doral this week, and he comes in after finishing second in two straight events. Close, but not enough.
At the podium on Wednesday, he didn’t make any excuses. He spoke clearly about luck, momentum, and how small differences decide results over 72 holes.
"Sometimes you hit a good shot and get a bad break," he said. "Instead of birdieing that hole, I make bogey, and all of a sudden, that's two shots."
Two shots can make all the difference at the end of a week. He knows what a great run looks like. Last year, from the Nelson to the Memorial, he won three times in four events. That is his standard, and that is what he is trying to reach again.
Doral is the first step, Shinnecock is next, and somewhere at the end of that road sits a U.S. Open title and a completed Grand Slam.

Scottie Scheffler’s 2026 Calendar: Every Big Tournament He’s Set To PlayA detailed look into the 2026 PGA Tour schedule of the game's dominant force, Scottie Scheffler, who has amassed 19 career PGA Tour wins and is drawing comparisons to Tiger Woods. At stake in 2026 are multiple historic records, a potential career Grand Slam with a U.S. Open victory, and the chance to join an exclusive club of golfers with over $100 million in career earnings, making every start feel like a moment that could redefine golf history. Paul Hennessy/Imago/SOPA ImagesReigning 4-time PGA TOUR Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler will make his 2026 season debut at The American Express later this month. Fresh off a dominant 6-win campaign in 2025, including the PGA Championship and The Open, he arrives as the sport's clear-cut top player. While this is a traditional stop on his schedule, he has yet to secure a victory in La Quinta. In five starts, he has 4 top 25s but only one top 10 finish (3rd in 2020). Ken Murray/Imago/Icon SportswireScottie Scheffler withdrew from the 2025 American Express while recovering from right-hand surgery. The injury occurred on Christmas Day 2024 during a freak accident while he was preparing homemade ravioli. A wine glass used to roll dough shattered, puncturing his palm and leaving glass fragments that required surgical removal. Scheffler shared via Instagram, "After consulting with my medical team, I have made the decision to withdraw... to give my injury more time to heal." This injury also forced him to miss the 2025 season opener. Ken Murray/Imago/Icon SportswireWorld No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to TPC Scottsdale aiming for his third Waterford Crystal Thunderbird Trophy. Tournament Chairman Jason Eisenberg noted that Scheffler "earned his 1st career PGA TOUR win here," making it a special venue for the top-ranked golfer. Coming off a historic 6-win 2025 season where he didn't miss a cut in 20 starts, he headlines the early field, looking to leverage his historical success at this iconic event. Rob Schumacher/Imago/Imagn ImagesThomas Detry captured his first career PGA TOUR win in the desert in 2025, becoming the 1st Belgian champion on Tour with a dominant 7-shot victory. Scheffler finished T25 in the 2025 event. This tournament saw his strong run continue, with a career total of 4 top-10 finishes in 7 starts at the event (including 2 prior wins in 2022 and 2023). This performance sets the stage for a strong challenge in 2026 as he vies for a third title. Rob Schumacher/Imago/Imagn ImagesScottie returns to Augusta National in 2026, intending to win his 3rd Green Jacket. A victory would make him just the 2nd player, after Jack Nicklaus, to win 3 Masters titles within 4 years. This major signifies the pinnacle of his competitive drive as he seeks to solidify his place among golf royalty. A win here would be a powerful statement about his sustained dominance in the sport’s most iconic venue. Joe Robbins/Imago/Icon SportswireRory McIlroy claimed the 2025 Masters title to complete his career Grand Slam. Scheffler finished in 4th place with a final score of 8-under 280, a week where he could never recapture the mojo that led to titles in 2022 and 2024. He walked away encouraged by his play, stating, "I think this was the best I've been mentally all year. I think my game just wasn’t there.” This performance serves as a powerful motivator for 2026. Jeff Robinson/Imago/Icon SportswireThe 2nd major of the year moves to Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, where Scottie will arrive having been named the GWAA Player of the Year for 2025. This event signifies his reign at the top of the sport, and the pressure will be immense as he attempts to defend his title from his commanding 2025 victory. He is seeking to replicate the success that earned him 2 of the 4 major titles last year. Trinity Machan/Imago/Icon SportswireScheffler secured a commanding victory at the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, shooting a final score of 13-under par (271 total), winning by 2 shots over Bryson DeChambeau. "The 2025 season was a year I will never forget," Scheffler said, highlighting this win as a special moment. This success was part of a campaign that saw him record a PGA TOUR-best 17 top-10 finishes in 20 starts. This dominant performance is what he will try to replicate in 2026. Stefano Di Maria/Imago/GolffileThe U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is where Scottie can achieve golf immortality by completing the career Grand Slam. After his 2 Major triumphs in 2025 (The PGA Championship and The Open Championship), he needs this trophy to become the 7th player to join the exclusive fraternity of those who have achieved the feat. This event is a pure test of his entire game, and he enters as the overwhelming betting favorite to finally achieve this rare milestone. Stefano DiMaria/Imago/GolffileJ.J. Spaun captured his 1st major championship at the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont. Scottie Scheffler finished in a tie for 7th place, five strokes back. He later commented that the week "could have been a lot different" if the breaks had gone his way, noting he struggled with driving accuracy, hitting just 29 of 56 fairways (51.8%). This finish maintained his active streak of 64 consecutive cuts made, the 2nd longest active run on the PGA TOUR behind Xander Schauffele. Christer Höglund/Imago/TTThe final major of 2026 at Royal Birkdale presents Scottie with the chance to become a back-to-back 'Champion Golfer of the Year'. Arriving as the defending champion after his 2025 triumph at Royal Portrush, Scheffler looks to master the links once more. In his 2025 victory, he led the field in ‘Strokes Gained Approach,’ proving his ball-striking remains the gold standard. This event serves as a critical test of adaptability where Scheffler aims to further solidify his historic comparisons to Tiger Woods. Thos Caffrey/Imago/GolffileScheffler claimed the Claret Jug at the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush, winning by 4 strokes. Entering the final round trailing by 2, he surged ahead with a clinical 66 to finish at 14 under par. Even rivals like Rory McIlroy conceded Scottie had become a "complete player" after he navigated the week with only 3 bogeys and one double bogey. This victory marked his 19th career PGA TOUR win, showcasing the mental fortitude that has defined his rise to world dominance. Stefano DiMaria/Imago/Golffile
