Right in the middle of LIV Golf's offseason, one transfer has shaken up Sergio Garcia's team.
Abraham Ancer has decided to join Joaquin Niemann’s Torque GC roster, an all-Latin American team, replacing Mito Pereira. Talking about his former player, Sergio Garcia had nothing but praise.
“Abraham has been a cornerstone of Fireballs GC from day one. He has been integral in building up the culture of this team, setting the standard for how we prepare, how we compete, and how we represent our club. His impact here goes far beyond the scorecard, and that kind of influence stays with you long after someone moves on.”
The 34-year-old player joined LIV in its inaugural season of 2022 and has been a part of Fireballs GC for four seasons, going on to win the PIF Saudi International on the Asian Tour in 2023. In addition to multiple team victories, Ancer managed a podium finish at LIV Golf Bedminster.
He continued that level of reliability through 2024, securing top-10 finishes and a Fireballs GC win at LIV Golf Andalucia. But perhaps his crowning achievement was representing Mexico at the 2024 Olympics.
And Abraham Ancer is ready to carry over that form to Torque GC
“Competing as part of an all-Latin team alongside close friends, whom I admire on and off the golf course, adds a layer of connection and purpose that I can’t wait to be a part of,” Ancer said.
By joining Torque GC, Ancer will line up alongside captain Joaquin Niemann, Colombia’s Sebastian Munoz, and fellow Mexican Carlos Ortiz as part of LIV Golf’s all–Latin American roster. It comes at a crucial time as Mito Pereira, their fourth player, was relegated at the end of the 2025 season.
Team captain Joaquin Niemann welcomed him into the squad. "As a fully Latin American team, we play with shared pride, duty, and purpose, and Abraham embodies that. His addition makes us stronger and deepens the bond that drives everything we do."
With Ancer making his debut for the team at LIV Golf Riyadh, how do you think the move will shape the LIV landscape? Let us know in the comments!
