Sergio García Recognizes the Stakes as LIV Golf Faces a Turning Point: "Want Them to Stay"

With Koepka being reinstated on the PGA Tour through the Returning Member Program, the criteria also make Jon Rahm, DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith eligible for a return.
For Sergio Garcia, who has just signed a multi-year contract extension that keeps him in the league through the 2026 season and beyond, Koepka’s departure is not a concern.
“I hope Brooks enjoys it, and hopefully he plays well,” Garcia told Today's Golfer on January 13. However, further exits could lead to a different situation.
“Obviously, we want to have Jon, and DJ, and Bryson, and Cam, and Joaco, and everyone that is here, we want them to stay, because they bring so much to the league. But at the end of the day, it’s everyone’s own decision.”

The three players with existing offers under the PGA Tour Returning Member Program, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith, remain aligned with LIV Golf.
Rahm has chosen to stay with Legion XIII after declining a return, DeChambeau is under contract with Crushers GC through 2026 while keeping future options open, and Smith has ruled out a return, confirming his commitment to Ripper GC.
At a press conference on January 13, 2026, Jon Rahm said, “I’m not planning on going anywhere,” adding that he is “focused on the league and my team this year.”
He is under contract with LIV Golf through at least the 2027 season.
Bryson DeChambeau on the PGA Tour returning member program
Following the PGA Tour’s offer, the two-time major winner Bryson DeChambeau spoke with Today's Golfer Ben Parsons on January 13 about his current season and where he stands on a possible return to the PGA Tour.
“I’ve got a contract this year, and that’s just going to be an ever-evolving conversation. Hopefully, I’m back next year. I’m excited for the potential of LIV. "
When asked directly about his future beyond 2026, DeChambeau added: “I have no idea what’s going to happen in a year, but what I can tell you is that we’ll do everything possible to make it make sense for both sides.”
While discussions continue between DeChambeau and LIV Golf over a possible early renewal or an extension beyond 2026.
DeChambeau has noted, “It just has to make sense for both sides, and we’ll move forward in a cool direction if that’s the case. I certainly don’t want to let [Crushers GC] down.”
