Bill Haas has played in 10 U.S. Opens, won six times on the PGA Tour, and worked with some of the game's top caddies. But on Monday's "Golf's Longest Day," the veteran is chasing another U.S. Open berth with his son, Will, carrying the bag.
A total of 713 amateurs and professionals will compete across 10 venues in 36-hole final qualifying for a spot in the U.S. Open, with Haas among the contenders.
Will was seen pushing a heavy caddie bag in the video shared by the U.S. Open's X post. The young kid was out there to help his father.
"This is what it's all about. It's grassroots. That is, Will Haas. He's not playing. He's just pushing today for his pop, six-time winner on the PGA Tour," said the commentator on the U.S. Open qualifier broadcast.
"That's Bill Haas. Billy's had staff bags, the big ones. He's had big-time caddies. He's played for big money, but this well, if they get it done, this will be as big as the Tour Championship that he won in 2011 at East Lake. It'll be a cherished memory, no doubt doing it alongside his son, and they're well on their way. Four under through 12," he added.
"Yeah, it was awesome. Just staying energized and keeping him I don't know, just keeping him confident and stuff," said Will.
The pair have gotten off to a great start as Bill eyes his 11th U.S. Open appearance.
The 2011 Tour Championship winner is in strong contention to qualify with a 7-under 63 in his first 18 holes of the day.
"He's doing great. He's doing great," said Bill.
After competing alongside his father, Jay Haas, at the 2004 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, he is now chasing his first U.S. Open appearance since 2018, with his son Will on the bag.
Moreover, there was another special caddie at the U.S Open final qualifiers.
Charlie Woods Takes Up Caddie Role

The pair are close friends, and even share an agent. They are also verbally committed to Florida State for 2027.
At BallenIsles Country Club, Russell will look to qualify for his first U.S. Open. He'll compete against the likes of Matt Kuchar, Luke Clanton, and Matthieu Pavon, among others.
On the other hand, Charlie Woods will gain valuable experience making course-management decisions under pressure through his partnership with Russell.
