Severe weather conditions stopped play during the third round of the Memorial Tournament on Saturday. This has created a very busy 48-hour schedule for J.T. Poston.

The 33-year-old is tied for the lead with Ryan Gerard going into Sunday's finish at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. If he does not win this tournament, he will need to play another 36 holes at the U.S. Open Final Qualifier on Monday.

PGA Tour SiriusXM analyst Jason Sobel put the numbers into perspective on X.

"J.T. Poston is scheduled to play U.S. Open Final Qualifying this Monday, but first he'll play 31 holes tomorrow at the Memorial Tournament," Sobel wrote. "If he doesn't qualify through his result, that's 67 holes the next two days. Golf's Longest Day preceded by Golf's Second Longest Day."

When tournament officials stepped in to stop play during the third round, J.T. Poston and Ryan Gerard had both reached 9-under par through five holes.

Players will return at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday to finish the third round. Officials will then begin the final round later that morning, according to Field Level Media.

If Poston wins Jack Nicklaus' Signature Event, he will earn a spot in the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills and will not need to go through qualifying.

Poston came to Muirfield Village without much momentum. The World No. 96 had only two top-25 finishes in 13 PGA Tour events this season before this week.

Among recent results, his best showing was a tie for 21st at the Valero Texas Open and a tie for 24th at the Truist Championship. Poston's last PGA Tour victory came at the 2024 Shriners Children's Open.

Poston and Gerard will return on Sunday morning to finish their par putts on the sixth hole. He has a five-foot putt left, while Gerard has a 15-foot putt.

Sam Burns is just one shot behind at 8 under par. Eric Cole is at 6 under, and Tommy Fleetwood, Wyndham Clark, and Keegan Bradley are also still in contention.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and World No. 2 Rory McIlroy are both eight shots behind the leaders and still have holes left to play in their third rounds.

Scheffler is trying to become the first player since Tiger Woods in 2001 to win the Memorial Tournament for three consecutive years.

The competition has a total prize fund of $20 million, with the winner on Sunday set to receive $4 million. This is the second time in about two months that bad weather has caused a major delay at a PGA Tour event, leading to a busy final day.

The last time was at the Valero Texas Open in early April, where J.J. Spaun went on to win the tournament.

J.T. Poston may have to play 67 holes in just 48 hours. What do you think about this incredible challenge?
