Seventy tournaments in, almost thirteen years as a professional golfer, and finally a DP World Tour title. Swedish golfer Mikael Lindberg finally had his big moment on Sunday at the Turkish Airlines Open 2026.
The 33-year-old Swedish golfer carded a final-round 69 at a rain-soaked National Golf Club in Türkiye to finish 10-under par, two strokes clear of playing partner Daniel Rodrigues and Italy's Guido Migliozzi.
The win also handed Lindberg the Asian Swing title, worth a $200,000 bonus check on top of his winner's prize of nearly $500,000.
It was not an easy win. Lindberg made a bogey on the third hole, and Rodrigues briefly caught up with him. But Lindberg fought back by making three birdies on the fourth, fifth, and seventh holes.
The back nine was tense, and both players made bogeys on the 15th hole. After that, Lindberg stayed calm and finished the round strongly.
He did not hide how it felt walking up the last. "My feelings on this last hole, I almost felt I wanted to throw up," Lindberg said.
Fighting back tears afterward, he added, "This is a dream come true, I've been dreaming about this for so many years. It's been mentally very tough, pretty much the whole week. So it's very nice to pull it off."
The win meant more than just a trophy. It opened a door Lindberg had never walked through before. With this win, he also earned a place in the PGA Championship for the first time in his career.

By finishing first in the Asian Swing rankings, Mikael Lindberg earned a place in the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in two weeks. It will be his first time playing in a major championship.
Austrian golfer Bernd Wiesberger and American golfer Jordan Gumberg also qualified for Aronimink after finishing second and third in the Asian Swing rankings.
Scoring was difficult all week. Lindberg’s opening round of 66 was the lowest score of the entire tournament, and he finished at 10-under par.
His previous best result on tour had come just the week prior: a solo third at the Volvo China Open. Two tournaments. Two career-best results. His first DP World Tour title arrived right on time.
