10 greatest FedEx Cup champions in PGA history

Started back in 2007, the FedEx Cup has crowned 19 champions through 2025. The payouts have grown significantly over the years, with the total bonus pool reaching $100 million.
With such huge money on the line, many of golf’s biggest stars have competed for the title. But who ranks among the top 10? Let’s take a look.
Rory McIlroy
The only man to win the FedEx Cup three times is Rory McIlroy (2016, 2019, 2022). He surpassed Tiger Woods in 2022 when he overcame a 10-stroke deficit to defeat Scottie Scheffler, earning $18 million.
According to the PGA Tour, that very season, he finished outside the top 25 just three times in 16 starts, with ten top-10 finishes, and his career FedEx Cup earnings passed $50 million.
Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods won the inaugural FedEx Cup in 2007, finishing the season with 123,033 FedEx Cup points under the original scoring format.

He reclaimed the title in 2009, becoming the first player to win it twice. His record stood for 13 years until Rory McIlroy claimed his third title in 2022.
Scottie Scheffler
2024 was the year Scottie Scheffler finally got his hands on the FedEx Cup trophy after two seasons. He closed with a four-under 67 to finish 30-under for the tournament, earning a four-shot victory over Collin Morikawa.
He became the first player to win The Players Championship, the Masters, and the Tour Championship in a season.
Jordan Spieth
Jordan Spieth became the youngest golfer to win the FedEx Cup at age 22 when he claimed the title in 2015.
According to the PGA Tour, “With two majors, five TOUR titles and the FedEx Cup, Jordan Spieth's 2014-15 campaign may have been the best season by a player not named Tiger Woods in the last 20 years.”
He even set a PGA Tour single-season earnings record of over $12 million
Justin Thomas
Thomas won the FedEx Cup in 2017, and that very season, he claimed five victories, joining Nicklaus, Woods, and Spieth as the only players since 1960 to achieve the feat before turning 25.
He also topped the money list with $9,921,560 and one-putted 43.67% of his holes.
Dustin Johnson
Back in 2020, Dustin Johnson etched his name into FedExCup history when he finally claimed the trophy.
That very season, Johnson stormed to victory at THE NORTHERN TRUST before narrowly falling to Jon Rahm in a thrilling playoff at the BMW Championship. That FedEx Cup was his 23rd PGA TOUR title.
Viktor Hovland
Back in 2023, no one could have expected a Norwegian to win the FedEx Cup, but Viktor Hovland had other ideas.
He stormed to victory at the BMW Championship with a final-round 61 before dominating East Lake with a five-stroke victory at the TOUR Championship to secure his first FedEx Cup title.
Vijay Singh
Vijay Singh clinched the first and only FedEx title back in 2008, becoming the second person after Tiger Woods to hold the trophy. He won the championship despite battling tendinitis in his left arm and struggling with a balky putter for much of 2008.
Jim Furyk
After three straight seasons of top-11 finishes without a victory, Jim Furyk won his first and only FedEx Cup back in 2010.
He became the first FedExCup champion to be outside the top 10 in the standings entering the Tour Championship.
Tommy Fleetwood
Tommy Fleetwood transformed a season of near-misses into a landmark triumph in 2025, capturing the TOUR Championship for his maiden PGA TOUR win and the FedEx Cup.
After twice surrendering 54-hole leads, he steadied himself at East Lake, firing a 2-under 68 to defeat Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay by three strokes.
