Alison Lee is in the quest for her first win on the LPGA Tour. Prior to taking maternity leave, the 31-year-old had misconceptions about the long putter. It’s safe to say things are no longer the same.

Last April, Lee gave birth to her first child, Levi. Facing issues with her putting, Lee sorted help from her putting coach. The coach's suggestion was met with retort from the LPGA pro.

“I would say I put it in almost a year ago now. Right before having my son I struggled a lot with putting and my putting coach actually recommended me to try a long putter a long time ago and I was like, absolutely not. That thing is terrible. It's hideous.” said Lee.

Before taking the break in 2024, Lee was indeed in a poor run of form. 

Missed cuts at the Chevron Championship, Cognizant Founders Cup, KPMG Women's PGA Championship and FM Championship was a series of poor performances and simultaneously Lee's putting struggles surfaced.

“Coming back postpartum I played a few events and it was just kind of a few test events to see what my game was like. I thought -- I felt like that was the best time for me to try it out, and it really stuck and I love that thing. I feel like this week I still haven't had any three putts -- haven't had any three putts, yeah? Yeah. And my speeds were great.” Lee added.

After her return in September last year, Lee made a change in her putter. Although she made just one cut out of three events, the two-time Solheim Cup participant was getting used to her new long putter in the meantime.

When Lee returned again this season after a break, the shift in putter reflected progressive results. With the help of the long putter, the 31-year old found her rhythm back. 

“Yeah, ever since I put this in the bag I feel like it's been -- it's added a lot to my game.” she added.

This year, Lee started off quite well at the JM Eagle LA Championship finishing T13. Following a missed cut at Chevron, the ‘Supermom’ put forth her best finish since becoming a mother at the Mizuho Americas Open, a tied for 3rd. 

Currently, at Riviera, Lee is displaying solid consistency. She is yet to win her first title on the LPGA Tour and recently commented on her winless streak.

Lee Plans To End Her Winless Streak 

Alison Lee is yet to secure her first win on the tour. Having joined the tour in 2015, Lee is still waiting for her first win and is determined to put an end to her winless streak.  

“I can still have a chance to win out here because I still have yet to win on the LPGA Tour. That’s been my biggest goal since turning pro,” said Lee.

In 2023, Lee finished runner-up for consecutive three times and was very close to crossing the line. Coming into the tour with a reputed amateur career, Lee was set to dominate the big events.

However, things haven’t gone her way and now with the change in putter, Lee will be looking forward to sealing her breakthrough win on the tour.
