The Firm Liked Playing With and Ultimately Defeating Tiger Woods: Bernhard Langer’s Son Reflects on a Memorable Win at PNC

Two-time defending champions Bernhard Langer and Jason Langer have arrived for the 2025 PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.

And after 'The Firm', the father-son duo defeated Tiger Woods and his son Charlie Woods in last year’s event. They looked back at their victory.

“It was really special day. Obviously, playing with Tiger and Charlie was something I'll never forget.”

The contest itself remained tight throughout, with neither side able to create separation. For Jason, the defining factor came on the back nine, where his father’s experience showed.

“I think we were pretty much tied the whole day, or at least within one shot. What stuck out to me was how well Dad putted on the back nine. He made everything, and that really kind of kept us in it.”

The Langers secured the 2024 PNC Championship in a sudden-death playoff after both teams finished regulation play tied at a tournament-record 28-under par. The title was decided on the first playoff hole, when Bernhard rolled in an 18-foot eagle putt to seal the victory.

Bernhard Also Recalled One of the Most Talked-About Moments of the Day

The moment was when 15-year-old Charlie Woods recorded his first career hole-in-one, acing the 175-yard par-3 fourth hole with a 7-iron.

“I remember Charlie making a hole-in-one... and how excited Tiger was as a dad. That was pretty cool.” Away from the ropes, the win resonated just as strongly. Jason revealed that the reaction back at work was immediate and enthusiastic.

“I think The Firm definitely loved playing with Tiger and ultimately taking him down.”

For Bernhard and Jason, the PNC Championship continues to be about competition, family, and moments that extend beyond the scorecard.
