“The Slower I Am”: Charley Hull Once Explained How Her Behavior Shapes Her Golf

Charley Hull has her own way to succeed on the golf course, and it is pretty much the opposite of what most renowned golfers do.
While several noted stars of the sport, including Tiger Woods, often follow a measured approach on the course, the 29-year-old English golfer prefers to be steadfast in her game, without indulging in too many "thoughts".
Hull appeared on the July 16, 2025, episode of The Icons by Motiversity, where she disclosed her "overthinking" nature. As a result, she prefers going "straight at the gun," instead of thinking "too much."
"No, I try not to think too much. The slower I am, the more things [start getting into my head, and] I'm like, 'Oh God!' and I start overthinking, cause I'm an overthinker. So when I'm straight at the gun, I'm way better."

Despite this uncanny approach, Hull has bagged multiple tournaments on both the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the LPGA Tour.
Currently, she holds the No. 5 spot on the Women's World Golf Rankings, indicating that her steadfast approach works well for her. However, it wasn't just her approach that made 2025 a memorable year for her.
Charley Hull's hard work made 2025 an eventful year for her
The No. 5 rank that Hull achieved on the Women's World Golf Rankings in 2025 is the best of her career so far. Her remarkable performances in multiple tournaments helped her conquer the spot.
Hull had a rather untoward beginning to the year as she finished the Founders Cup tied for 19th place with Leona McGuire of Ireland.
However, she made a strong comeback in the next event, the HSBC Women's World Championship, where she finished in a tie for fourth place with the 32-year-old Mexican.
The latter half of the year was far more eventful for Hull, as she won the Kroger Queen City Championship and finished the AIG Women's Open tied for second place with Minami Katsu of Japan.
Hull detailed the key factor behind her success in 2025 during her appearance on a three-month-old episode of the LPGA podcast.
"I can honestly, hand on heart, say that this year I've worked the hardest I've ever worked."
While Hull's efforts in 2025 presented her with a year of remarkable success, it remains to be seen whether she can perform even better this year.
Winning her first major tournament will be on her 2026 to-do list.
