"They check his cars": Michael Kim recalls accidental border crossing

Four-time PGA Tour winner Si Woo Kim once accidentally crossed into Canada without his passport after driving to the wrong restaurant.
Fellow PGA Tour pro Michael Kim recently shared the post on X, recalling how the unexpected mistake led to a border inspection.
“Officers are surrounding his car and talking to him and each other. They check his cars for w******, asks him if he has any... stuff like that and they finally let him thru,” wrote Kim in his X post.
Michael Kim has a go-to Korean BBQ restaurant in Detroit, and he wanted Si Woo Kim to join him for dinner over there.
However, the latter was headed to a different location, a restaurant with the same name in Canada.
In his attempt to do so, Si Woo Kim had crossed the border but did not have his passport on him. Officers in Canada went on to question him, but neither was sure enough to let him go.
“He’s super nervous but tries to explain what happened. He points to his courtesy car and says I’m here for the golf tournament," Kim added. "This officer is not sure what to do, so they drive the car to the side and calls another officer… then another… then another until 8!”
After a lengthy interrogation from the group of officers, Si Woo Kim was able to take the U-turn and make his way back. The dinner plan did take place but with a 90-minute delay.
It’s funny how a wrong Google Maps search turned the night upside down for Si Woo Kim.
Away from the border-crossing story, Michael Kim also reflected on one of the biggest moments of his own season following last week's 3M Open.
Michael Kim reacts to the 59 round at 3M Open
On Friday, Michael Kim scored a 59 at TPC Twin Cities to become just the 15th player to do so.
"Unreal day. Happy to be in the history books, but now I gotta get ready to try and win the tournament. Let’s get after it,” wrote Kim in his X post on July 25.
Kim racked up 12 birdies to get to the score, which was shared evenly on the front and back nine. He took the lead with the second-lowest round score on the PGA Tour.
However, the American failed to capitalize on the 59 over the weekend. The following day, he carded a 70 and then a 69 on Sunday. He finished at 17-under for the tournament, tied for 10th place.
