Rain delays don’t just test a golfer’s game, but also test the focus and patience that the player needs.
On March 15, 2026, in Singapore, the Belgian professional golfer, Thomas Detry, handled both perfectly and ended the day with a team trophy.
Detry was part of the 4Aces GC team that won the Aramco LIV Golf Singapore team title by five shots. It was their second win in a row after they won in Hong Kong the week before. Sunday at the Sentosa Golf Club turned into a long day with several rain delays, but Detry handled the situation with calm.
"It was just a long day," Detry said in the post-round press conference.
"We had to stop because of the rain. I noticed that some of the balls were not flying as far as what they used to do, so it's all about adjusting constantly."

The rain did more than just change how far the ball went because it also made the greens slower, broke the rhythm of the round, and changed the way the leaderboard looked.
Joaquin Niemann, the defending champion who had a two-shot lead before the rain delay, found it very hard after play started again and made three bogeys without making any birdies.
"I usually struggle a little bit when I take a break like that," Detry admitted. "So I really tried to stay loose even during that one hour where we couldn't play. I stayed loose, and I feel like my energy levels stayed high."
His teammate Thomas Pieters did most of the scoring, and he finished with a bogey-free 6-under 65, which was tied for the best round of the day.
Detry shot a steady 1-under 70, and it came at the perfect time when the team needed a reliable round. But after this win, he's hungry for more.
South Africa Next and Detry Is Already Locked In
With Singapore finished, the focus now moves to the next stop.
LIV Golf heads to Johannesburg next week, where around 90,000 fans are expected. It will be the first time the league plays in South Africa.
Detry sounded excited about it. “I’ve heard there will be more than 90,000 people next week, so it might feel like Adelaide 2.0,” he said.
“South Africa has always been good to me. I’ve usually played good golf there.”
He also spoke about what the moment means beyond just the 4Aces. He said fans are excited to see Louis and Charl. The Stinger team is playing on home soil again, and the atmosphere should be great.
