Tiger Woods's potential return to the Masters is in jeopardy. The golf legend was arrested Friday and charged with a DUI following a rollover car crash in Florida.

Woods was arrested on March 27 and charged with a DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test after a crash on South Beach Road, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek told reporters on Friday.

According to the Sheriff, the 50-year-old tried to overtake a truck hauling a pressure cleaner trailer. When the truck's driver was making a left turn, he saw Woods' Land Rover coming up. Despite some attempts at evasive action, the Land Rover clipped the truck's trailer, and the car went over.

When officers reached the scene on Jupiter Island, the SUV had rolled over and Woods was near the sidewalk in golf attire. Later, as officers approached him, he showed signs of impairment. While the breathalyzer test did not detect any alcohol in his system, a subsequent urinalysis was rejected by Woods.

Speaking about the same, Sheriff Budensiek said, "We know we arrested a high-profile figure. I’m not trying to dramatize it. But it doesn’t matter who you are; if you break the law, we’re going to follow the law. It’s a really easy path to take. As far as being in the jail, we’re going to make sure he’s safe. We’re not going to put him in general population. He’s not going to be with other inmates that could hurt him or try to capitalize on what he did."

Fortunately, Woods did not face any injuries. It's the fourth serious automobile incident since 2009. The 2021 Los Angeles crash nearly cost him his leg and seven back surgeries. Due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, he's played just 11 tournaments across five seasons.

But with the Masters just 11 days out and his participation still unconfirmed, Friday turned an already uncertain comeback story into something far messier.

Days before Friday's crash, Woods swung a club publicly for the first time since October at TGL. The 2026 Masters starts on April 8. He hadn't confirmed a decision on playing.
