Tiger Woods' Next Golf Course Project Is Officially Taking Shape; Here's What We Know

Tiger Woods, after a decade in golf course design, is introducing a significant new element to his architectural achievements. The recent project by TGR Design at the Tributer Resort in Lake Anna, Virginia, combines the rough, mining country landscape with its characteristic strategic approach.
The Tributer Resort has made an official announcement regarding its plan to expand from 18 to 36 holes and to build a new TGR Design championship course no later than 2028.
In the official release, TGR Design President Bryon Bell stated, “Balanced mix of uphill and downhill holes, shifting perspectives, and natural landforms will ensure no two holes feel alike, creating a course that feels organic in its movement and varied in its demands."

The words of Bell are an accurate portrayal of the landscape. At 7,310 yards and par-72, the design will take players around the rolling farmland, hardwood forests, and pine trees, overlooking Lake Anna, on land that was once mined for copper, pyrite, and gold. This makes the course unique, but the resort is proving its mettle.
In the official announcement, Tributer Resort General Manager Ian Sikes stated, "This new course announcement represents a major milestone in the evolution of Tributer Resort and reinforces our commitment to building a premier golf destination at Lake Anna."
Sikes' confidence has its basis in the past performance of Tributer. Indeed, the current Cutalong Golf Club, which debuted in 2023, won the award of Top 5 Best New Private Courses in America from Golf Digest that same year. This new TGR course will be a private offering that is situated just west of Cutalong.
The Virginia course represents but a small part of the bigger design pipeline being overseen by Woods and TGR at the present time.
Tiger Woods and TGR Design Are Juggling a Global Pipeline of Projects
The announcement of Tributer comes when TGR Design is already booked. The firm recently finished work on a par-3 layout at The Patch, a public course situated adjacent to Augusta National, and also completed Payne’s Valley in Missouri, Tiger Woods’ first public access course.
Besides these, TGR Golf is working on the design of Trout National, a country club formed by the famous baseball player Mike Trout, as well as golf courses at Marcella Club in Utah, Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio in Vietnam, and Jack’s Bay in the Bahamas.
The Marcella Club project would be especially pertinent in this case because it is the first time that TGR has worked with Reef Capital Partners, who own the Tributer Resort and are the owners behind Virginia.
Additionally, TGR will be reworking the design of The Hay short course at Pebble Beach, completing a global portfolio of projects that no one thought possible ten years ago.
