Tiger Woods' son, Charlie Woods, has started his title defense strongly at the Team TaylorMade Invitational. Last year, Woods secured his biggest junior golf tournament, and this time, he’s in no mood to let it go away.
Woods looked in fine form in the opening round. The 17-year-old, competing against some of the best young talents, shot a 2-under par 68.
With the impressive performance, Woods currently sits clubhouse tied for 7th. He trails leader Bodie Brumlow by seven strokes.

Woods began smoothly as he birdied three of his first seven holes. However, things took a turn for him at the 9th hole.
Woods suffered his only double bogey at that hole which was a heavy blow to his momentum. He fought back with two birdies on the 13th and 15th hole.
Five birdies, one bogey and one double bogey- that summed his round up. In the 54-hole event, Woods remains in strong contention.
The leaderboard is packed with multiple players tied alongside Woods. Brumlow’s extraordinary nine-under 61 gave him a two-stroke lead over Palm Beach Gardens' Ryan Nana Tanke.
Against the strong contenders, Woods will have to be at the top of his game to successfully complete his title defense.
Interestingly, Woods’ win last year in the tournament was also phenomenal, in the true sense of the term.
Woods’ breakthrough victory last year
Woods headed into the Team TaylorMade Invitational as the defending champion. His win at the Streamsong Resort’s Black Course last year came against all the odds.
The 16-year-old back then had no AJGA tournament wins to his name and was ranked No. 604 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings.
However, Woods shot a 15-under against the higher-ranked opponents and sealed his maiden AJGA title.
This time around, Woods is ranked 13th, and the odds are certainly in his favor.
