Tiger Woods’ TMRW Sports is moving beyond golf after securing a role in the NFL’s new flag football league.

The NFL has chosen TMRW Sports, a tech-focused sports media and entertainment venture led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, to operate its new flag football league, according to Sportico. 

TMRW was one of several groups that bid for the role of operating partner. According to reports, TMRW Sports earned the role following a bidding process that included about a dozen groups. 

In December, NFL owners approved the plan to find an operating partner and agreed to invest up to $32 million to help establish the league.

The new league is intended to establish a professional pathway for athletes, connecting existing youth programs such as NFL FLAG with high school and collegiate levels.

Following the owners’ approval of the new professional league in December, NFL executive Troy Vincent Sr. said, “Today’s vote represents a critical step in establishing flag football as a premier global sport.”

TMRW Sports confirmed to Sportico that it has an interest in flag football but declined to comment on any discussions with the NFL. 

Meanwhile, the NFL has continued to expand its involvement in the format by making flag football the main event of the Pro Bowl Games and permitting player participation in its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The NFL’s link with a golf-backed venture may raise questions, but the connection is more aligned than it first appears.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports already has NFL ties

The partnership between TMRW Sports and the NFL is not unexpected, given the existing connections between both sides. 

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank is among TMRW’s key investors and has attended several TGL matches. 

Notably, Vikings owner Mark Wilf and NFL players, including Bills quarterback Josh Allen and former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, are also investors and have been involved with the venture.
