Tiger Woods' Response to His Future Plans Is Hilarious: Will Play 25 Events on Both Tours

Dec 3, 2025, 3:30 PM CUT

Given how guarded Tiger Woods has become about his schedule in recent years, his latest answer caught everyone off guard. Yet again, instead of a straight plan, he fired back with a joke that instantly stole the moment.

His playful response didn’t just spark laughter; rather, it opened the door to the bigger question everyone’s been waiting to ask. So, what does Tiger’s next chapter really look like?

A Laugh, Then a Reality Check: Woods on What Comes Next

When asked about turning 50 later this month and whether the PGA Tour Champions might be part of his next chapter, Tiger Woods delivered a response that instantly lit up the room.

During a press conference for the Hero World Challenge on the Golf Channel's official YouTube channel, Tiger Woods said: “Yeah, I'm probably going to play 25 events on both tours, and I think that should cover most of the year, right?” He said it with a grin, drawing laughter as reporters realized he was joking.

The line was classic Tiger. Quick, disarming, and sharp enough to cut through a question everyone had been speculating about for months. But then, once the laughter settled, Woods shifted into a more grounded tone. “No… I’m just looking forward back to just let me get back to playing again,” he continued.

Woods’ focus wasn’t on hypothetical schedules or milestone birthdays. Instead, it was simply returning to competitive golf. It's something that has defined him through countless battles against Jack’s records, Phil’s charges, and an entire generation of stars he helped inspire. However, the 49-year-old is taking it slow.

Tiger made it clear he’s focused on the next step in his recovery. “I just want to… let me do that, and then I’ll kind of figure out what the schedule is going to be,” he said. He emphasized that decisions about playing the PGA Tour, the Champions Tour, or any mix of the two remain far off. “I’m a ways away from that part of it… that type of decision, that type of commitment level.”

Naturally, it was a reminder of how many rehab cycles he has endured. Tiger knows the process better than anyone. “Unfortunately, I've been through this rehab process before, step by step,” he noted, outlining the familiar timeline he has to respect. Only then, after he tests the full sequence, practicing, exploding, playing, and recovering, will he allow himself to assess where and how often he can compete.

In the end, the moment captured everything about Woods at this stage of his career: humor still intact, competitive fire still burning, but the path forward determined by a body that has endured more than most champions ever face.
