Alex Fitzpatrick, the Hero Indian Open winner, has quickly impressed in PGA Tour Signature Events, with Tommy Fleetwood praising his strong run at Quail Hollow Club.
After finishing his second round at the Truist Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday, Fleetwood spoke about Fitzpatrick’s strong start on the PGA Tour.
Having spent years with him on the DP World Tour, Fleetwood shared his thoughts based on what he has seen up close.
"I think he's on a great run of form," Fleetwood said.
"I think he's put a lot of great work in. I remember playing back in Europe towards the back end of last year and he was, he had struggled up until that point in the year, and his game was clearly coming back. He had a great finish to the year, he's continued that on. So his work is paying off."

He earned his PGA Tour card at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside his brother, Matt Fitzpatrick, then followed it with a top-10 finish at the Cadillac Championship before continuing his strong form at Quail Hollow Club.
Through two rounds at the Truist Championship, Fitzpatrick sits T3 at seven-under par while leading the field in strokes gained approach, with his improved driving continuing to stand out in recent events.
Fleetwood made his opinion clear. "It just shows, wherever you are, if you're playing good golf and you're playing to the level you want to play at, you can compete on any given week," he said. "It's a great start to his PGA Tour career."
The one area that has held Fitzpatrick back is putting. He ranked in the bottom 20 in that category during Friday’s round. However, his tee-to-green numbers told a completely different story.
Alex Fitzpatrick's Approach Stats Lead the Truist Field With Two Rounds to Play
Fitzpatrick currently leads the entire Truist Championship field in strokes gained approach at 2.33. At Doral last week, he gained 1.06 strokes on approach along with his strong driving, showing that his iron play has remained solid in both events.
Fleetwood, who was one shot ahead of Fitzpatrick after rounds of 67, shared another honest reaction.
"Happy for him," Fleetwood said. "It's great to see him and Pete doing so well, and it's a great start to his PGA TOUR career."
Fitzpatrick is nine shots ahead of his brother Matt through two rounds at the same event.
