Top 3 Greg Norman-Designed Golf Courses

Before Greg Norman turned to LIV Golf as his biggest project, his organisation, Greg Norman Golf Course Design, left its impact on the sport.

With over a hundred courses designed all across the world, we're taking a look at some of the best.

1. Doonbeg Golf Course (County Clare, Ireland)

The course's main draw is its scenic beauty. Norman did a masterful job of combining the course with the stunning natural sand dunes surrounding it. Situated beside Doughmore Bay, the course provides ocean views from 14 of its 16 holes.

The five par-3s, five par-5s, and oceanic winds around the course make playing in it significantly challenging.

The combination of strategic challenges and incredible surroundings makes the Doonbeg Golf course one of Norman's best.

2. The Earth course of Jumeirah Golf Estates (Dubai, UAE)

While the Fire course of the Jumeirah Golf Estates presents its own challenges for players, the Earth course's parkland design make it a more attractive playfield.

Besides making the Earth course visibly soothing, the parkland designs also present their own difficulties for players. The strategically placed bunkers and abrupt water features of the course can make the life of a player miserable.

The final four holes of the course were referred to Norman as "The Hardest Mile in Golf," which has accounted for multiple unexpected finishes to date.

The Earth course's lush meadows combined with its remarkable technical difficulty make it one of Norman's most fascinating designs.

3. Medalist Golf Course (Florida, USA)

While Norman and Co. don't get full credit for the Medalist Golf Course, it's undeniably one of his best designs.

Norman's GNGCD partnered with Pete Dye for the project, which resulted in the strategic placement of bunkers and water bodies in the course, giving it a unique character like no other course.

While Norman has also jokingly blamed Dye for the course's extremely testing nature, that's exactly what encourages players to take risks with long shots to achieve better angles.

The course's aesthetic appeal, featuring coquina-like screenings, also makes it one of Norman's top designs.
