Tyrrell Hatton’s Honest Take on Mental Coaching Sparked a Moment With Jon Rahm

Tyrrell Hatton had a blunt take on mental coaching ahead of LIV Golf South Africa. The Legion XIII revealed what works for him when it comes to handling pressure.
During the LIV Golf South Africa press conference, Tyrrell Hatton revealed how he doesn't really practice mindfulness.
“I don't think it would surprise you to hear that I don't have a mental coach. Yeah, that just doesn't work for me. I just kind of react to the situation that I've put myself in and then try and get on with it,” he said in a clip from Flushing It on Tuesday
The discussion then shifted toward whether others in the group resort to mental coaching, and just as John Rahm started talking, Hatton's comment cracked up the room.
"Jon's calm as well, isn't he, to be fair," said Hatton. That's because Rahm Jon Rahm's temper and outbursts have compelled worked with a mental coach since 2014.
“If there is something they don't need to learn from us, that's the one thing they could just avoid and pick something else,” said Rahm.
Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm Face Split Over Ryder Cup Eligibility
Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm remain teammates on Legion XIII, while uncertainty continues around their eligibility for Team Europe in the 2027 Ryder Cup.
At the same time, their situations off the course have also started to move in different directions. While both were part of Team Europe during 2025's win, Tyrrell Hatton has secured his path for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor by accepting the DP World Tour’s settlement.
Hatton agreed to pay fines, withdraw appeals, and meet event requirements to keep his membership.
Meanwhile, Jon Rahm declined the offer. He objected to DPWT's conditions, including event commitments and fines, leaving his eligibility for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor uncertain.
