Watch: Charlie Woods’ First Hole-in-One and Tiger’s Priceless Reaction in This Classic Video

Dec 10, 2025, 11:30 AM CUT

Tiger Woods and his son, Charlie, returned to a familiar stage at the PNC Championship in Orlando, stepping onto the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club as one of the most followed teams in the 20-pair family tournament.

The defining moment arrived on Sunday at the par-3 4th hole, playing about 178-yards. Charlie played a controlled cut toward the flag, the ball starting left before tracking directly at the pin.

As the ball left the club, NBC Sports reporter Jim “Bones” Mackay said on the broadcast, “really good contact” and added “this is a great looking shot if it’s the right number.” The ball landed around six feet short before rolling directly into the cup. The crowd erupted, confirming the first hole-in-one of Charlie Woods’ young career.

Tiger wasn’t on the tee when Charlie swung. Broadcast footage shows he had stepped away for a moment, returning only as the roar around the green gave away the result.Tiger Woods later described after the round, the reaction around the green made the moment clear.

“We heard it up on the green on the right and left, but we were totally unsure until the TV confirmed it. And we went nuts. It was an unbelievable moment. That two hole stretch, that was his first eagle he ever made out there on three and then his first hole-in-one.’”

The achievement ranked clearly for Charlie. When asked where the moment stood in his early career, he said, “number one. It’s not even close. It was just a perfect 7-iron, little cut in there. Of course, I never got to see it go in. So that sucks. But that’s alright.”

The hole-in-one marked a career milestone for Charlie. He scored a second one in September this year, and it might just be the beginning of this career.
