U.S. President Donald Trump could have a major impact on this year's Amgen Irish Open, prompting organizers to prepare for every possible scenario ahead of the event at his Doonbeg resort.
The event is scheduled to take place at Trump's International Golf Resort in Doonbeg from September 10 to 13. However, despite his interest in attending, organizers have not received any official confirmation of a visit.
“We’ve planned for all scenarios,” said championship director Paul Gillmon. “If he comes, which is a big if, it will be disruptive, but that goes with the territory. We will just wait and see how things evolve.”

At last year’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, Trump appeared during the afternoon session to minimize delays and disruption as much as possible.
“We have no confirmation that he is coming. We know that he wants to come, but no confirmation yet that he will be here,” General Manager Joe Russell said.
If Trump attends Doonbeg during its first Irish Open, organizers may need to implement additional security measures, potentially including airport-style screening, crowd control, and traffic management while also managing a field featuring some of golf's biggest names.
Recent editions of the Irish Open have attracted between 80,000 and 100,000 spectators, highlighting the scale of the crowds expected at the tournament.
The Positive Impact Of Trump’s Resort
“But one thing I can say to you is that since the Trump Organisation has taken over this resort, it’s been an upward trend. The people in the community are benefiting, both socially and economically and in every other way, from the resort,” said Russell.
This local support will be critical if Trump attends, as community cooperation eases security logistics.
Trump acquired Doonbeg in 2014, and since then, its development has been on the rise. This time, at the Irish Open, big names are expected to battle for the title.
“There’s a very positive vibe here towards the Trump Organisation, and that’s as much as we can control,” added Russell.
Sunday's final round is completely sold out, and ticket sales for Saturday’s third round are close to selling out.
Defending champion McIlroy and recent LIV Andalucia winner Tyrrell Hatton are already confirmed to tee up. Two-time winner Jon Rahm is also expected to feature at Trump’s resort.
