When Tiger Woods Didn’t Sugarcoat His Opinions on Presidents and Their Golf Skills: "Cuts!"

Tiger Woods has shared stories about playing golf with world leaders before, but his 2016 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert stood out.

In a rapid-fire segment aired on October 21, 2016, Colbert asked Woods to sum up his golfing experiences with U.S. presidents in just a few words.

Tiger Woods' experience with George H.W. Bush

Starting with George H.W. Bush, Tiger replied, “Fast. We played for under 2 hours."

Later in 2018, Woods explained the same detail a bit better. "Eighteen holes in probably under two and a half hours. I met him on numerous occasions."

Well, Woods first played with George H.W. Bush during a practice round in Houston while he was still an amateur. They even played golf together during the ceremonial first tee shot at the inaugural AT&T National on July 4, 2007, at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.

His time with Bill Clinton

And when Bill Clinton’s name came up, Tiger responded, "Lots of cuts." Colbert wanted to know if Tiger was referring to cuts on the golf ball or cutting corners, and Tiger just answered, "Cuts."

Despite issues Woods had with Clinton, they shared a round of golf back in 2006, when they played at the Shady Canyon Country Club in Irvine.

What Tiger thought of Barack Obama

Tiger Woods has been a symbol of golfing brilliance for a long time. However, this changed when the topic shifted to Barack Obama. Tiger characterized Obama as "very competitive" and as someone who "hits the ball straight."

Woods and Obama had played several rounds together, mostly at courses like Floridian National, and both their competitive sides were pretty much obvious. Tiger eventually said Jackson hit his shots "hard," "crooked," and "not longish," making the moment light yet honest.
