When Tyrrell Hatton Didn’t Hold Back From Mocking Fellow LIV Golfer: "You Deserve It For How Bad It Was"

You would think golfers do not care about fashion, but Ian Poulter and Tyrrell Hatton will force you to think again.

Three months ago, Poulter and Hatton appeared on an episode of ‘Agree To Disagree’ by SPORTbible. When they were asked, ‘Ian Poulter is the most fashionable golfer.’ And Hatton strongly disagreed!

“Oh my. Gosh, that outfit that you wore — the gold one? The goldy… it was an orange— It was disgusting,” said Hatton.

Poulter responded by explaining just how brutal it was to wear in the Indian heat:

“It was disgusting as I took it off, ’cause it was 100 degrees in India when I wore it. It was nuclear hot. I felt like I was radiating inside it.”

Poulter recalled wearing a tight-fitting gold lamé shirt paired with brown trousers featuring orange etching in 2008, during the Johnnie Walker Classic in India, a look he sported at a welcome event near India Gate and during the Pro-Am in Gurgaon, showcasing his bold fashion sense.

Hatton doubled down, joking that Poulter deserved the suffering: “I feel like you deserved it for how bad it was. You deserved some sort of punishment.”

Poulter added that the week didn’t end much better on the course either: “I missed the cut by a shot. I was furious.”

But that was not all, as Poulter further disclosed he had two more outfits planned for Saturday and Sunday. Sadly, he never got the chance to wear them.

Ian Paulter isn’t alone in dressing flamboyantly on the course

If we’re talking about style on course, there’s one name that simply can’t be ignored—John Daly.

The two-time major champion has long been known beyond his fearless putting and free-spirited lifestyle- his unapologetically bold fashion sense.

A peek at Daly’s fashion legacy would reveal his diverse choices- from fiery printed pants at the 2019 Senior PGA Championship, to his psychedelic “short-game” look at the 2022 British Open previews, to a run of vibrant tropical and Hawaiian trousers during the 2020 SAS Championship season.

Whether it’s flaming graphics, skull-patterned shorts, or palm-tree prints, Daly has turned golf fashion into a personality statement.
