LIV golfer Sergio Garcia fired back with a two-word response after Fireballs GC teammate David Puig joked about his obsession with his Valderrama record.
The exchange took place at a Fireballs GC press conference ahead of LIV Golf Andalucía at Valderrama on Tuesday and was posted by the LIV Golf account on X. Garcia, Puig, Luis Masaveu, and Josele Ballester were all present when a reporter asked whether Garcia ever brings up his record at the Spanish course.
Puig didn't hesitate, and he said, "Every day. He keeps reminding us every day of how good he played here. So yeah, we know. Right, Sergio?"
Garcia's reply was instant. "Wouldn't you?" he said.
Puig then went deadpan. "What did he do exactly? Like a couple of top 30s and a few missed cuts, right? Average," he said.
The actual record: four wins and 17 top-10 finishes in 20 appearances at Valderrama. "And I've only played 20 times here," Sergio Garcia added.
Puig took the joke a step further, questioning "Do you count that match against England as a top 10? There were only two teams."
The lighthearted banter underscored Garcia's history at the course. Winning four times in 20 starts at the same course is an achievement very few golfers can match.
The conversation happened while questions continue to surround LIV Golf's future.
Sergio Garcia Says LIV Golf Will Survive but Admits It Will "Look Different"
Away from the jokes, Garcia addressed the league's funding situation directly at Valderrama.
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund confirmed in April that it will withdraw financial backing at the end of 2026. LIV is actively seeking new investors. Garcia said he trusts CEO Scott O'Neil to find a solution.
"We're really excited about the work that our CEO, Scott, and his team are putting in," he said. "We're very confident that that's going to happen. It's just going to look different."
He was measured but clear. "I wouldn't say there's a lot of uncertainty. I think that obviously there's a little bit of uncertainty."
Teammate Josele Ballester echoed the same approach: focus on golf, trust the process. "If I play good golf, things will fix for me," Ballester said.
The attention now turns to Real Club Valderrama, where LIV Golf Andalucía tees off on Thursday and continues through Sunday, with Sergio Garcia aiming to build on his history at the Spanish course.
