On June 13, American professional golfer Wyndham Clark walked onto The Rink, a par-three hole, wearing a Team USA hockey jersey, at the RBC Canadian Open. The Canadian fans made their disapproval of the jersey very clear, as boos filled the greens.
The 32-year-old American golfer spoke to reporters on Saturday, June 13, after shooting a 7-under-par bogey-free 63 in the third round at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon, Ontario.
"I was expecting boos, for sure," Clark said to the media, "It was quite fun. I mean, they were all booing, and then I took it off, stuck it close, put it back on. They were booing me all the way up, even right before I putted."

At Hole 14, 'The Rink,' Clark made a birdie to cap his jersey moment. He also shared the reasoning behind wearing the jersey.
The 32-year-old golfer said in the post-game presser, "I was doing it to more celebrate USA's win, it had nothing against Canada, but I just thought in hockey country it would be kind of fun. I was very fortunate enough to make a birdie and at least do it in style."
The Rink is where fans wear jerseys, and officials dress as hockey refs — pure Canadian theater. Clark knew exactly what he was doing.
The jersey story started two days earlier.
Clark wanted a USA hockey jersey for The Rink Hole, but could not get one shipped in time. On Friday, he spotted a fan wearing a Jack Hughes USA jersey and asked to buy it on the spot.
Clark paid the fan after his round and got his address to ship the jersey back once the week was over.
But the crowd was not finished with him after that.
Wyndham Clark Round and What Fellow Pros Said About His Rink Hole Moment
The American professional golfer's strong round moved him to 11-under-par for the tournament.
He took the jersey off for his tee shot, then put it back on for the walk to the green. The boos followed him the whole way, including right before his birdie putt.
"I was actually really nervous on that putt because if I miss that, then it looks really bad," Clark said. "So I'm glad I birdied it."
Other players took notice afterward.
"Some guys came up and said, 'You got stones, that was pretty impressive,' " Clark said. "But, yeah, it was all fun and games."
Clark birdied the 14th, 15th, and 18th holes to close his round at 11-under, putting him tied for third heading into Sunday. He started the day six shots back.
