Brooks Koepka has been everywhere following his return to the PGA Tour, and Xander Schauffele had something to say about it.

Koepka is set to compete at the Farmers Insurance Open from January 29 at Torrey Pines as the first tournament following his return to the PGA Tour. Schauffele, who will also be competing in the tournament, gave an amicable response about Koepka’s return during the pre-tournament press conference on January 27.

He said, "Yeah. I mean, it's good. I mean, I don't know Brooks like crazy well, but I've always gotten along with him. I think he wanted to be back and I think the Tour found a way to pave a path for himself and a few others."

Although they haven’t crossed paths yet this week, Schauffele expects that to change soon.

"I haven't seen him or spoken with him yet, but I'm sure I'll see him either tomorrow or throughout the week back on the full circuit," said the 32-year-old.

From Schauffele’s point of view, the situation is clear. He noted that reactions can change based on who is asked and how the return is viewed. But he clearly thinks that Koepka's coming back adds to the Tour rather than taking it away from it.

Pairings for the opening two rounds of the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open are now set.

Brooks Koepka will play alongside Ludvig Åberg and Max Homa. At the same time, Xander Schauffele is grouped with J.J. Spaun and Harris English.

During the first two days, the groups will rotate between courses. On Thursday, both groups begin play on the South Course. As a result, Koepka and Schauffele will not be paired together in the opening rounds this week.

Their standings also differ. In early 2026, Koepka sits well outside the top tier of the world rankings. Schauffele remains near the top.

During Ryder Cup qualification in 2023, Schauffele earned an automatic spot. Koepka needed a captain’s pick.

Now, both are in the field at the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open. For Koepka, the week marks his return to the PGA Tour after time with LIV Golf. For Schauffele, it is his season opener at Torrey Pines, where he finished tied for second in 2021.

Their recent results underline the contrast. Schauffele won the Baycurrent Classic in October 2025. Koepka’s last major victory came at the 2023 PGA Championship.

Over the years, they have faced each other often. One example came at the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open, where Koepka won by one shot, and Schauffele finished second.
