Charley Hull, 29, is a three-time LPGA Tour champion. Her approach to life is based on enjoyment, persistence, and staying present.

Charley Hull avoids overthinking or creating pressure and treats golf and life with a mindset shaped by her father, focusing on steady progress and staying true to herself.

Charley Hull appeared on The Icon by Motiversity on June 16, where she spoke about her journey of balancing life experiences with her golfing career.

Hull said she felt like she was a late developer in golf. She explained that she allowed herself to have a childhood and enjoy her younger years, and when she turned 18 or 19, an age when drinking is legal in England,

“I got my younger years out of the way, partying and stuff, when I was 18 - 20. Then I could concentrate on my golf career.” After that phase, she felt she had gotten those experiences out of the way and was then able to focus properly on her golf career.

Hull turned professional in 2013 at the age of 16, and despite the pressure that came with starting her career so early, Hull made sure to have fun.

“I don’t see the point otherwise. I feel like in life you’ve only got one, you’ve only got one life, haven’t you? So you can’t think, ‘Oh, I’ve missed out on that in life. I’ve missed out on that in life.’ You’ve just got to live every moment.”  Charley Hull said during the podcast.

Despite Charley Hull embracing enjoyment and freedom

“I actually like the feeling of pressure, I feel like I’ve lived with it since competing as a junior, so I’m used to it.” This comfort with pressure has been part of Hull’s journey from an early age.

Charley Hull made her professional debut in March 2013 on the Ladies European Tour at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco, where she finished tied for second.

During her rookie season, she recorded ten top-10 finishes and made her first Solheim Cup appearance at age 17, which led to her receiving the 2013 LET Rookie of the Year award.

She earned her first professional win in March 2014, four days before her 18th birthday.
