Zach Johnson never considered himself the best player on any team he played for.
Not in high school, not in college, but over a 22-year PGA Tour career spanning 529 starts, the Iowa native quietly built one of the most consistent records in the game and a prize money total that tells the whole story.
The 50-year-old golfer is a two-time major champion from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
His official PGA Tour earnings stand at $50,010,048 across 529 starts, according to the PGA Tour. He turned professional in 1998 and earned his Tour card in 2004 after topping the Nationwide Tour money list the previous year with then-record earnings of $494,882.

In his 2007 Masters victory speech, Johnson summed up his career philosophy plainly. "I just kept getting better every year," he said, per his official website.
That approach helped Johnson stay successful for many years. He made the cut in 403 of his 529 PGA Tour starts. During his career, he finished in the top 10 a total of 84 times and in the top 25 on 199 occasions, according to the PGA Tour. His best finish in the FedExCup standings was fifth place in 2013.
His 12 PGA Tour wins spanned more than a decade, from the 2004 BellSouth Classic to the 2015 Open Championship at St. Andrews, won in a four-hole playoff over Marc Leishman and Louis Oosthuizen. He became only the sixth golfer to win majors at Augusta and St. Andrews, joining Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, and Tiger Woods.
His total career earnings tell an even bigger story. Per Spotrac, Johnson's combined earnings across all events reached $54,764,656, nearly three decades of professional golf at the highest level.
Zach Johnson Wins on PGA Tour Champions Debut and Eyes Next Chapter
Johnson turned 50 in February and became eligible for the PGA Tour Champions.
He wasted no time and won on debut, per ESPN, shooting a 6-under 66 in a performance he described as showing the "fruits of my labor."
He also captained the U.S. Ryder Cup team at the 2023 match in Rome and represented his country in five Ryder Cups as a player in 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016, and four Presidents Cups.
In 2026, Johnson has yet to record a win or a top-10 finish on the PGA Tour. His current OWGR sits at No. 430. His debut win on the Champions Tour, however, came quickly after turning 50 in February.
