2023 U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark has received widespread attention at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson due to an unusual case, alongside his excellent play at TPC Craig Ranch in the third round. Clark's appearance at the golf course on Saturday raised many concerns due to a mysterious facial injury.

The sudden injury on the star's face left golf fans deeply concerned. Addressing the situation during the post-round press conference, Clark quickly cleared up the mystery surrounding his appearance.

"I don't really know. I had like a cut on my nose, and I went like this. Next thing you know, I was b*******. It wasn't quite a bloody nose, but it lasted a couple holes."

During his round, Clark posted a 6-under 65, resulting in a tie for second at 19-under overall. It appears that this minor injury didn't affect Clark's game or his placement in the leaderboard.

On the third hole, he managed to make a par-save that greatly boosted his momentum during the round. He then found his rhythm and even made an eagle at the par-5 ninth hole.

As a result, he entered Sunday's final day in this tournament with only two shots behind the leader, Si Woo Kim. This is definitely good news for the player, who had a tough year and has been struggling to regain form.

Wyndham Clark Reviving a Difficult Season at Craig Ranch

Coming into the week, he was having a tough time finding consistency, managing just two top-20 results in his last eleven tournaments. Such a slump obviously meant that Clark was having his momentum sapped as he entered the new season.

Clark had the toughest part of his recent struggles at the PGA Championship at the Aronimink Golf Club. The performance there saw him miss the weekend cut at the second major of the year.

However, Clark has completely turned things around by conquering the newly renovated layout this week. He credits his sudden surge to a shift in mindset and adapting to the undulations.

"You have to think a lot more and be precise, which I think is great to have on the PGA TOUR."

To finally secure a trophy after two years and break his slump, Clark emphasizes maintaining a resilient mindset on Sunday. He is fully prepared to stay patient if the birdies do not come early.

"If you didn't birdie the first five, you can birdie the next 13. That's what your mindset has to be."

Clark now looks to overcome a two-stroke deficit when the final pairing tees off Sunday.
