Bryson DeChambeau is opening up about the weird reality of battling his own teammates for individual LIV Golf titles. As the Crushers GC captain prepares for this week's event in Busan, he admits that competing against close friends like Charles Howell III is a difficult balancing act

DeChambeau experienced this during his individual win at last year's LIV Golf Korea. The American went into the final day leading by four shots and managed to endure intense competition from his teammate, Charles Howell III, who closed with 9-under 63.

"We were going head-for-head, and it was a fun battle. But I was happy to actually get it done on Sunday. It was something I'd needed for a long time."

DeChambeau recalled finishing at 19-under 197 to edge out Howell III's 17-under total by two shots.

The confrontation with his fellow player was a unique psychological battle in the last round for the eventual champion. DeChambeau explained that going against one of your close friends on the golf course is not an easy task emotionally.

"Yeah, it's a weird one, actually. You're kind of rooting for them but also want to beat the living h*** out of them."

Thus, the win became the first success of Bryson's in the 2025 LIV Golf season, allowing him to overcome great pressure and get an individual trophy.

Moreover, the player simultaneously anchored Crushers GC to register a huge 9-stroke victory in South Korea in 2025.

Bryson DeChambeau on Overcoming the Unique Course Demands at Asiad Country Club

This time around, the contest moves to the Asiad Country Club in Busan, presenting the competitors with yet another challenge. According to DeChambeau, this location offers quite a different layout compared to the preceding location.

The specific grass variety near the green will force the players to change their short-game approaches. Players will have to deal with erratic fliers, especially if their balls land in the thick rough throughout the course of the week.

DeChambeau addressed these issues during the presser.

"The grass is a lot different, so around the greens you're going to see some interesting shots and some incredible shots, as well."

In response to the conditions, DeChambeau himself is actively working on his swing techniques now, trying to get into his top form again.

His goal is to replicate his golf swings once again, just like he did to achieve an outstanding 12-under-par 58 result at the 2023 LIV Golf Greenbrier.

"I'm working on my golf swing quite hard, trying to get back to that 58 level at Greenbrier when I just had this golf swing that was so easy,"

The Crushers GC squad expects a demanding test at the Asiad Country Club. DeChambeau remains fully focused on mastering these technical details to defend his title successfully this week.
