A Grandfather’s Legacy Lives On Through Hanna Golf Putters: A Heart-Touching Story

Hanna Golf, the boutique milled putter maker, is rapidly gaining traction in the golfing community. Priced at $295 each, the company sells three putters: Amarillo, El Reno, and Salt Lake. But why did they name their products after cities in the USA?

Taking to X, Jared Doerfler, founder of Hanna Golf, revealed, “Each Hanna Golf milled putter is named after a city my grandfather lived in.”

"Born in 1926 in El Reno, Oklahoma, a small town west of Oklahoma City. When he was a child, his family relocated to Amarillo, Texas. He was drafted into World War II, and when he came home from the war he enrolled at the University of Denver on the G.I Bill. He later took jobs in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Des Moines, Iowa."

Later, when Jared began golfing at the University of Northern Iowa, his grandfather showed him the same dedication. As Doerfler revealed on the Hanna website, his grandfather came for his first event, the Kansas invitational.

"He hid behind trees and would shout at me to keep the putter rolling on the walk from greens to tees. He only ever cared about putting."

For now however, they only have one pro on the PGA Tour using their putter. As Jared explained, "I was at a tour event earlier this summer, and we just aren’t ready or prepared to serve most of these golfers.

But that can change very soon

Jared Doerfler began Hanna Golf with a CNC mill and three 303 stainless steel putter designs in the summer of 2023. He emptied his savings and took a loan to get a CNC mill set up in his garage. He quit his job and focused on making the clubs.

Nearly three years later and he's grown exponentially. The focus now is on maintaining that growth.

"Since I emptied my bank account to self fund this business, I am quite frankly just trying to get to each month. We aren’t as strategic as I’d like right now, and I think that is relatively common in a new business – we’ve been at it for a little over a year. Of course, I’d like us to come out with new designs, add more machines and continue to grow. But to do that, we need to win each day and week. We are just focused on the process and seeing where the results will take us."
