After 9/11, Tiger Woods Built Something Bigger Than Golf That Impacts 217,000 Kids Today

For many, the 9/11 incident is an unforgettable scar. And Tiger Woods made an attempt to help the community through the TGR Foundation. Thus, TGR Learning Labs was born.
Taking to Instagram, Woods shared a few images of himself along with the staff and children at the TGR Learning Labs. But it was the caption that highlighted how far his foundation has come.
“After 9/11, I wanted to create a safe space for kids to learn, grow and chase after their dreams,” the 15-time major champion wrote. “Today, @tgrfound has served more than 217,000 kids across the country through our TGR Learning Labs, and we’re excited to impact more students from communities in need.”
In 2006, TGR Foundation started the TGR Learning Lab in Anaheim. As the team celebrated the 20th anniversary, Tiger Woods expressed his pride in the students and was “grateful to everyone who has supported them” over this period.
Last year, Woods opened his second TGR Learning Lab in Philadelphia in partnership with the Cobbs Creek Foundation. The aim? It’s to support local students going through 12 grades in science, technology, arts, math, and engineering.
Talking about the second Learning Lab, Woods stated, “I’m excited to open the doors to our second TGR Learning Lab in Philadelphia as it combines my passion for supporting youth through education and golf.”
And Tiger Woods Isn't Stopping There
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the TGR Foundation, and Tiger has major plans for the group this year.
They wrote on the website, "To honor this legacy and look ahead to what’s next, TGR Foundation is launching Driving Dreams Together, a year-long celebration presented by EY US. This landmark year also commemorates the 20th anniversaries of TGR Learning Lab Anaheim and the Earl Woods Scholar Program, two cornerstones of TGR Foundation’s impact."
This includes three new locations:
- Los Angeles, California at Lulu’s Place
- Atlanta, Georgia, in partnership with the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation
- Augusta, Georgia, in partnership with Augusta National Golf Club
