Augusta National is shaping the future of women's golf. Chairman Fred Ridley explained the club's vision at his 2026 press conference, highlighting the rapid success of the Augusta National Women's Amateur and its global impact.
The 90th Augusta National Masters Tournament is not only an event that defines the game's men's majors but also serves as a key architect in designing the future direction of women's golf.
In his announcement, chairman Fred Ridley confirmed that the club's initiatives are elevating women's golf to new competitive and international heights.
"I felt by doing that, we were doing our part to elevate the women's game and to really allow it to grow and prosper as we've seen many other women's sports in the last few years," Ridley said during the 2026 Chairman's Press Conference.

Fred Ridley explained that the goal of holding the Augusta National Women's Amateur was to give such highly talented athletes a stage worthy of their abilities.
At this year's Augusta National Women's Amateur, Maria Jose Marin emerged as the champion in record fashion.
48 of the 50 best female amateur players in the world competed at ANWA. It included representatives from 23 countries and 32 colleges.
A Legacy of Amateur Excellence
Amateur golf holds special significance for the Chairman, whose career began when he competed in the Masters as an amateur exactly 50 years ago.
In 1976, Ridley lived in the Crow's Nest and played alongside Jack Nicklaus, an event that sparked his lifelong love affair with the grounds.
"As it related to the club itself and to this place, it was the start of a 50-year love affair I've had with this place, and it's been a big part of my life," Ridley recalled.
This background explains why Ridley is passionate about fostering amateur golf, aligning with the club founders' original intentions.
Chairman Fred Ridley has noticed that events like ANWA have exceeded his expectations, and he hopes to further drive that growth.
