Brooks Koepka Does Just Enough to Linger as Farmers Insurance Open Heads Into Moving Day

As the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open proceeded with round two, attention shifted from Justin Rose, who led the field, to Brooks Koepka, who did just enough to qualify for round three.
With his first start on the PGA Tour since 2022, Koepka shot a one-over-par 73 in round one. But his scores improved in the second round with a four-under 68. With an overall score of three under par, Koepka jumped 44 spots to T58, barely qualifying to advance.
The North Course at Torrey Pines was indeed easier than the South Course. And Koepka exploited it by making a birdie on number 14 and an eagle on the par-5 17th. With that, the five-time major champion moved within the previously projected cut of two under. But a little turbulence pushed him back to one-under, with the new cut being three-under.
Yet, Brooks Koepka managed to make the cut with a birdie on the fifth and another one on the par-4 seventh. Ultimately, he earned his way into the weekend of his first PGA Tour event upon his return.
The 35-year-old seemed satisfied with his performance. "I thought I played pretty well, I hit a lot of good putts that burnt the edge,” he said. “I guess 68 was kind of the worst I could've shot today.”

"It very easily could've been 64, 65 if a few putts dropped, but that's golf. Sometimes on poa [greens], I felt the speed wasn't quite aggressive enough. I feel like that side might be a hair slower than the South. Got two more rounds to play, which I'm excited about, and it's gonna be a tough golf course.”
But there’s one more reason for Koepka’s good mood.
Brooks Koepka Shares His Thoughts on Making the Cut
Even though he’s not the leader, Koepka dominated the headlines. "It's huge,” Koepka admitted. “I wanted to be here all four days. I've never gotten so many congratulations on making a cut before.”
"But no, it feels good. I wanted to play two more days, and I'm excited to challenge myself and really figure out where [my game is] at, and hopefully be a little more aggressive and shoot some good scores."
In the end, Koepka survived the cut with timely scoring and steady control. The weekend now offers a clearer test of his form and intent on Torrey Pines’ demanding stage.
