Brooks Koepka Reveals the Unexpected Challenge of Competing at Home as a Father

The five-time major champion Brooks Koepka has totally different challenges coming out of his own home.
This week, Koepka will play in his hometown for the first time since becoming a father.
As a parent, he talked about unexpected situations he faced while competing at the Cognizant Classic. The event, originally known as the Honda Classic, is currently being held at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, from February 26 to March 1.
"This morning we were trying to keep it down in the gym not to wake him, so there is a little bit of a weird element, too, of how do we work around him and his schedule," he said.
Koepka's mornings are focused on his toddler instead of his tee times.
"It is super enjoyable. I rushed home last night... just trying to rush home to catch him right before he went to bed," Koepka said.

A Legacy Beyond the Leaderboard
As Koepka regains his comfort on the PGA Tour, he reflects on his career legacy with greater realism.
"I just try to be the best person, best golfer I can be," Koepka remarked. He stated, "I just do not want to look back at the end of my career and say, man, I really could have put more effort in."
Koepka highlights this goal of actively committing to "100 percent effort" each time.
Koepka's son, Crew, has his own golf clubs and has started to copy his father's golf swing.
He mentioned, "It was awesome to see as a dad," referring to his son's excitement about hitting a metal wood for the first time.
Golf is not the only activity the two have enjoyed together recently. Koepka and his son have also been spending time together watching hockey. Things got a little out of hand when Koepka admitted to "taking a stick to the face" at the house.
Koepka joked, "I feel Jack Hughes and his pain a little bit, but did not lose a tooth, thankfully." He expressed his gratitude for seeing his son "evolve and grow" as he plays in front of peers.
