Patrick Reed is following Brooks Koepka back to the PGA Tour.

The move surprised many, including Koepka himself, whose first reaction was a single word: 'Wild.' He quickly followed it with a message of full support for his fellow pro.

Unlike Koepka, Reed would have to wait till August 2026 to play on the tour. But the five-time major champion has a few words for the former 4Aces member. 

After scoring one-over 74 in the first round of the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, Koepka was asked about his reaction to Reed’s return. When the news broke a day ago, Koepka was with Jeff Pierce when he stopped in the fairway to ask about it. But the 35-year-old had his phone away in his bag. 

When he did, he felt, “It's wild.” Koepka said, “Whatever Patrick wants to do and to be the best golfer he can be, best for his family, I'm in full support of that. I think everybody's different, got to make decisions for what's best for their family.” 

“If he's doing that, then I'm 100 percent behind him, whatever he needs to do.”

Reed returned as a past major champion (2018 Masters Tournament). But since he hasn’t won any major championship or THE PLAYERS Championship between 2022 and 2025, he won’t be able to play right away. But why exactly did he leave LIV Golf?

The answer is a ‘no’. As Koepka stated, he did it for his family. He decided with careful thought and consideration alongside his family. 

Talking to ESPN regarding his decision, Reed said, "I became a different person because of the friendships with players I've made. Family is my priority and playing closer to them is what really matters. I can't get days back.”

And through the X post where he announced his move, Patrick Reed wrote, “I’m a traditionalist at heart, and I was born to play on the PGA TOUR, which is where my story began with my wife, Justine.”

Koepka backed Reed’s choice without hesitation. Reed prioritized family and tradition over timing as he charted his return to familiar ground. But can Reed gain a stronger stance on the PGA Tour?
