Bryson DeChambeau’s claimed strategy of leveraging his YouTube following for negotiations process has received a direct response from Michael Kim, a seasoned PGA Tour player.

DeChambeau and his management team reportedly approached several organizations during Masters tournament week to discuss alternative avenues other than signing with LIV Golf.

Kim took to social media to raise skepticism regarding such a tactic, saying, “Breaking 50 with LeBron isn’t the same as going against Scottie at Hilton Head.”

Kim replied to an industry story revealing DeChambeau’s hefty $500 million demands to remain in LIV Golf, citing his success in producing video content.

Kim refuted any claim that YouTube exhibitions can simulate the high-pressure environment of professional competition needed to maintain elite-level performance.

The veteran golf player reinforced the need for hard work, stating that “winning majors is his main goal and playing on the PGA Tour is the best way to get ready.”

A Longstanding Social Media Rivalry

The recent spat is just another episode in the long-running social media tension between the two golfers, often revolving around DeChambeau’s move to LIV Golf.

As an avid X user, Kim commented on DeChambeau’s ability to adjust to the new 54-hole tournament schedule during the 2025 PGA Championship in May.

In response to a below-par performance by DeChambeau in the first round, Kim tweeted an ironic joke about how little the LIV Golf star plays: “Give him time till tomorrow. He’s not used to playing on a Thursday.”

During that period, the tweet displayed the difference between starting on a Friday at LIV Golf events and grinding through four rounds in a traditional PGA Tour tournament.

DeChambeau, however, has not publicly responded to Kim's comments.
