“Can’t Actually Leave the U.S.”: Real Reason Behind LPGA’s Hannah Green’s Surprise Caddie Switch

Mar 2, 2026, 12:30 PM CUT

Hannah Green usually lets David Buhai carry her bags during tournaments. But as she won the 2026 HSBC Women’s World Championship, Buhai wasn’t there to caddie for her.

In his stead, Green’s husband, Jarryd Felton, caddied for her. But why did Felton have to make the temporary change?

Addressing the media during the HSBC Women’s World Championship post-tournament press conference, Green said, “It's been a really good couple weeks. My caddie that I usually work with, he's trying to apply for a green card. So he can't actually leave the U.S. at the moment.”

That’s why Buhai wasn’t in Green’s plans this season. Thankfully, Felton seemed free enough to “put his golf clubs aside” and take care of his wife at the Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore.

“It was absolutely a team effort out there today and the entire week the last two weeks, really,” the Australian star continued. “So it's very special to be able to share the 7th win, my favourite number, with my husband.”

But did Felton do a good job as a caddie?

How Well Did Jarryd Felton Handle the Role of Hannah Green’s Caddie?

“I was feeling nervous and told Jarryd a couple of times that I wasn’t comfortable,” Green confessed. “He reminded me to take a deep breath, have a snack, or even sip some water.”

“I haven’t played with this kind of adrenaline in a long time, and we handled it really well.”

Hannah Green began the final round tied for the lead with Minjee Lee. The seven-time LPGA Tour champion opened the round with a birdie and made an eagle on the par-5 8th. With her husband’s support, she proceeded to shoot three more birdies. She ended the tournament with a three-under 69 for the big win.

We saw Felton caddying for Green in Thailand, as well. Now, he’s going to carry Green’s bag for two more events in Australia, including the upcoming Australian Open. But that doesn’t mean she has parted ways with David Buhai.

It’s simply a temporary setup till Buhai gets his green card. And it’d be Buhai caddying for him during the events in the USA.
