The PGA Tour is revising its schedule with the Signature events leading to the majors. But the dense stretch of Signature events keeps testing players’ limits, including that of Scottie Scheffler. 

Talking about the bigger Signature events sandwiching a few events in his hometown (Dallas-area), Scheffler said, “Physically and mentally, I just can't play more than a few weeks in a row.”

He told the media at the Genesis Invitational pre-tournament presser that he loves competing in the Bryson Nelson and other events in the Dallas area.

His schedule (both on and off the course) doesn’t allow him to play “a ton of weeks in a row.” For the world number one, it’s a lot more work now than it was at the beginning of his career. 

However, with the PGA Tour schedule facing changes, Scottie Scheffler would have to play every week if he didn’t want to choose between events. With his defense at the Memorial coming up, does he have a plan for which events to appear in?

After praising the PGA Tour for hosting events every week, the 29-year-old said, “There's always decisions to be made in terms of tournaments. If I could, I would play every week, it's just not feasible for me.”

He doesn’t announce his entry into tournaments without complete commitment. That’s why he claimed “everything is still up in the air.”

He has already played three events over the past few weeks. Scheffler even managed to win the American Express and secured top-five finishes in the other two. And that run seems pretty exhausting.

But there’s one course that Scheffler wouldn’t want to miss.

Scheffler believes that the Riviera Country Club is a tournament-worthy venue. But why?

The world number one stated, “I think it challenges us in some different ways. Then I think you have a lot of history here, and it's a golf course that's stood the test of time.”

Of course, the course has evolved. But Scheffler loves the challenge that Riviera Country Club offers.

“Greens got a lot of slope. The rough is a whole new challenge for us this week. Yeah, it should be fun.” 

Scheffler will prioritize recovery and peak performance as the PGA Tour reshapes its calendar. He will target key events like Riviera and the Memorial while carefully managing consecutive starts.
