Michael La Sasso is just 21, but he's already made a career-defining choice. The former PGA Tour prospect is now LIV Golf's youngest player. He's finally opening up about why he couldn't pass up the controversial opportunity.
Talking to the media at the Riyadh Golf Club, La Sasso admitted, “This is honestly my first time really traveling. That's the first time I've slept eight hours on a plane. So I'm kind of getting used to the jet lag and everything. But being able to be here, play under the lights, be able to travel the world at such a young age, the experience that I'll get from this, you can't really pass up.”
When he joined LIV on January 20th, La Sasso explained he signed up to play at "the highest level on a global stage." It was a move he gave up a spot at the Masters for.

Now, with the Saudi-backed league, Michael La Sasso began in Riyadh, then moves to Adelaide, then Hong Kong, then Singapore, and finally stops in the USA. And as the youngest player on the LIV Golf tour, La Sasso is finding it incredible.
“Especially kind of being so young, I feel like the amount of stuff that I'll be able to learn in the next few years, just even being able to be here, like really, it's hard to say how cool it really is to be able to travel the world as a 21-year-old kid and just see different cultures.”
But as La Sasso gets ready for his professional debut, he has set a few goals for the first season.

La Sasso had to give up on a chance to compete in the Masters Tournament by accepting Phil Mickelson’s invitation. And to establish himself as a strong contender, he desperately needs to make some noise.
“I know Phil is very big on having a team win and an individual win,” he said. “Now being the youngest player in the league, I'd kind of like to come in and make a good noise, and I would like to win a couple times. I would like to see the team win for sure, as a team event. I think that would be pretty neat, as well, and kind of take it one day at a time.”
La Sasso is also focused on securing wins and earning the OWGR points necessary to compete at the highest level.
