The broadcasting at the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open had a subtle goof-up involving Brooks Koepka. But the fanbase was quick to catch on.

With Koepka on the screen during round one, the commentators pointed out, “When we talk about [Scottie] Scheffler’s win last week, his 20th on the PGA Tour, by the way, 17 of those wins coming in the last three years.”

However, they stated that Koepka was “away from the game” during these past three years.

Since joining LIV Golf in 2022, Brooks Koepka has won five events on the Saudi-backed league, along with the 2023 PGA Championship. Saying he was away from the PGA Tour seems understandable. But not when he has won a major championship.

Nevertheless, the five-time major champion established himself with strong gameplay at the Torrey Pines South Course. He posted a one-over 74, earning his way into the easier North Course.

Of course, he seemed a bit rusty, especially with his drive. But he certainly caught the fans’ attention with a birdie on the closing hole.

And as he returned, the 35-year-old had just one thing to ask of the PGA Tour fans and officials.

Brooks Koepka Has Just One Ask Upon His PGA Tour Return

Coming back to the PGA Tour after three years seemed to have made Koepka slightly nervous. Yet, he went ahead seeking a friendly reception from people.

"Just wanted a warm reception,” Koepka said after the first round at the Farmers Insurance Open. “Just like everybody else, you walk into a room, nobody wants to feel exiled. They just want to be loved. That's human nature, I think.”

"I'm the only one in the entire world that's going through this situation, so it's very difficult to explain. But I'm enjoying it, I really am."

It might have been easier for Koepka had Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and/or Cam Smith followed him out of LIV Golf. But the Floridian isn’t backing down. He’s looking to dominate the course at TPC Scottsdale, where he has won twice in the past.

Fans rejected the broadcasting narrative and defended Brooks Koepka’s elite relevance, giving him the warm welcome he craved. But what are your thoughts about it?
