Tiger Woods is facing a hard reality. Following a TGL Finals appearance, the golf legend revealed his recovery struggles cast serious doubt on his ability to compete in the 2026 Masters.

Woods ruptured his left Achilles tendon in March 2025 and then underwent his seventh back surgery, a lumbar disc replacement in November. So it's not been an easy year for the veteran.

"I've been trying. Just this body is — it doesn't recover like it did when it was 24, 25. It doesn't mean I'm not trying," Woods stated in his update.

Woods made this honest statement after returning to the TGL Finals in Florida, where his Jupiter Links Golf Club was defeated 9-2 against the Los Angeles Golf Club.

Woods detailed the injuries that have affected his ability to compete at a consistently high level, saying, "I've had a couple of bad injuries here over the past years that I've had to fight through, and it's taken some time."

Woods' uncertain future at the tournament is beyond his control, but it does not overshadow his love for the tournament. The tournament is special to the Woods family because it has been part of Tiger's life since he was 19.

Building Momentum for the Champions Dinner

Woods has confirmed his presence at Augusta National, whether he will be playing or not. He plans to attend the customary Champions Dinner and will be involved with "The Loop at The Patch" initiative being launched there.

Currently, Woods will be doing a combination of practice and playing at home to assess his progress.

He will decide on his final participation status on the Friday before tournament week. Woods stated, "I don't know, we'll see how it goes. I'll be practicing, playing at home this week, and keep trying to make progress."

The indoor, simulator-based TGL environment may have offered a low-impact competitive return. However, the true test will be whether he can physically handle the hilly 72-hole walk at Augusta National.
