“Don’t Interview Scottie”: Collin Morikawa’s Hilarious Plea After His First Win in 848 Days

The "Dan on Golf bump," might be turning into a lucky break for golfers, as analyst Dan Rapaport put it while interviewing Collin Morikawa after his win at Pebble Beach.

However, the moment Morikawa got to know about it, he had only one name on his mind – Scottie Scheffler.

Following his win after 848 days of drought, Morikawa appeared on season 2, episode 12, of Dan on Golf. During their conversation, Rappaport reflected on their conversation a week ago.

"You said, 'Well, the belief is high. The skill may be not so much.'" said Rapaport. That's when he brought up the "Dan on Golf bump," and asked if Morikawa believed it was real.

After Rappaport admitted that the team was trying to make it a thing, Collin Morikala told Rapaport, “Okay, we’ll start here. Don’t interview Scottie.”

The comment was a tongue-in-cheek nod to the world number one, who has been piling up victories on the PGA Tour. Scheffler’s last win came at the 2026 American Express. And coincidentally, it was right after he appeared on the Dan on Golf talk show.

But what about his own win at Pebble Beach? While the confident wedge helped him birdie on the 18th hole, there's a good reason why Morikawa told Rapaport not to interview Scheffler.

Reflecting on his latest win, Morikawa confessed, “I always believed it was right around the corner. I would have kept waiting forever.”

The win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am marked his first win since he won the 2023 Baycurrent Classic. He stayed persistent throughout his 145th start on the PGA Tour, and that finally brought him the laurel he was fighting for.

However, Scottie Scheffler nearly stole the win from right under Morikawa's feet.

Scheffler was eight shots behind at the beginning of the fourth round. However, with three eagles in his round of 63, he tied with Morikawa for the lead. Thankfully, Morikawa held on and won after he birdied the final hole.

The ‘Dan on Golf bump’ might just be a coincidence. However, if more golfers repeat what happened with Morikawa, it might really become a thing.
