Bryson DeChambeau had an odd mishap with his equipment during the first round of LIV Golf Andalucía on June 4, 2026. The incident caught the Crushers GC captain off guard at the Valderrama course.
Hole 12 found DeChambeau missing the green with his tee shot. His wedge, which he intended to use next, and walked with it towards the shot, when the club snapped. When asked about the same during the post-round press conference, he seemed confused as well.
"I don't know how to explain it. It cost me a shot."

Walking down the fairway, DeChambeau used his wedge like a cane, causing the clubhead to snap suddenly.
"The shaft snapped, and that was the first time that's happened in a long time," he remarked at the presser.
The freak accident completely disrupted his momentum during an otherwise solid performance, which included four birdies.
With the club snapping, DeChambeau found himself in a tricky spot on the par-three 12th hole. He had to execute a recovery shot with a remaining club from a poor lie.
"Getting up-and-down with a 55-degree out of a downhill lie downslope made it a lot more difficult," he explained.
Despite the mishap, his steady play helped wrap up a solid one-under-par 70.
Despite the unexpected setback in Spain, DeChambeau battled hard to keep his team in contention and finished the first round in a tie for 9th in individual standings.
This is not the first time DeChambeau has snapped a club.
Bryson DeChambeau Mirrors 2020 PGA Championship Fracture
This unfortunate incident is similar to what happened to DeChambeau at the 2020 PGA Championship.
During the first round at TPC Harding Park, Bryson DeChambeau accidentally broke his driver on the seventh hole. He leaned on the club while trying to pick up his tee, causing the shaft to snap.
"I just went down to go tee it up, and it snapped on me," he recalled.
Even without his primary club, he still did well with an opening round two-under-par 68, staying right in the game.
Playing partner Adam Scott witnessed the bizarre equipment failure firsthand during their group's marquee round.
"He's hitting it long... Not to like put him down any, but I thought it was going to be longer," the Australian veteran famously teased afterward.
Although the equipment malfunction botched some parts of his game, he bounced back strongly. During the last three rounds in San Francisco, he scored a 70, then a 66 twice, ending up tied in fourth place overall in the 2020 PGA Championship.
