During the third round of the John Deere Classic 2026, Doug Ghim did something nobody on the PGA Tour had managed to do in the last decade.

According to a PGA TOUR post on X, Ghim became the first PGA Tour player since 2014 to hit every fairway and every green in regulation across a single round.

Justin Ray of The Athletic previously on LINKS Magazine noted the only two players who had accomplished this feat since 1990 were Fulton Allem in 1992 and Tim Clark in 2007.

And with his Saturday round, Ghim became just the 10th player on the PGA Tour since 1983 to hit every fairway and green in a round more than once in his career.

He's done it before. Brentley Romine of Golf Channel noted on X that Ghim pulled off the same feat years earlier as a junior. He did it at the Junior Players at TPC Sawgrass, where he shot 72.

Ghim entered Saturday's third round in a tie for 11th at TPC Deere Run. But after recording his second consecutive 6-under 65 round, he's now 14-under 199 through 54 holes. He carded six birdies and twelve pars in his picture-perfect third round.

Now, entering Sunday's final round, he's trailing co-leaders Lucas Glover and Lee Hodges by two shots, and sitting one shot behind the trio of Zac Blair, Ben Kohles and Jackson Suber at 15-under.

Doug Ghim Still Chasing His First PGA Tour Win

The most recent feat was amazing, but the bigger story is still the same one for Ghim. The 30-year-old is in his ninth pro season, and he keeps putting himself near the top without quite getting over the line.

He has been close before. At the 2022 Players Championship, he played in the final group on Sunday. At the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open, he finished runner-up to J.T. Poston.

"It gets frustrating," Ghim said, according to the Quad City Times.

"You see a lot of guys that you grew up with winning a lot and doing the things that you hope to do at this point. At the end of the day, everybody's got their own path, and if I keep putting myself in that position, it will happen to me. If I continue to play better, it might be tomorrow, it might be a year from now. I don't know when it will be.

"All I know is that I'm going to keep trying and keep showing up."

This also isn't his first time in the mix at TPC Deere Run, either. Last year, Ghim opened with a 62 and held the 36-hole lead here only to fade over the weekend and finish tied for 31st at 11-under.

Despite that, he’s not going to overthink things before the final round.

"If I perform the way I know I can, I'll have a chance," he added.
