Driving down Magnolia Lane has just become a reality for five international golfers, thanks to a historic change in major championship qualifying.
The Augusta National Golf Club added five historic National Open winners to the field. It bypassed qualifying for the first time, creating a pathway for more winners from various international tours.
The new exemption winners are Marco Penge, Tom McKibbin, Naoyuki Kataoka, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, and Casey Jarvis.
Fred Ridley previously stated, "In support of Augusta National's efforts to develop interest in golf globally, deserving international players have been invited."
The 5 players who have qualified for the Masters via historic national opens so far are:

It is a long-awaited and much-desired recognition that winning a prestigious national championship is an unequivocal test of championship quality.
The five stars' journey as they prepare for April is motivational for aspiring international players. The 2026 Masters will be the first to have a field that accurately represents the state of professional golf.
But how did they earn the opportunities of their lifetime?
The Global Pathway to Magnolia Lane
On October 12, 2025, Marco Penge earned his place by winning his title at the Spanish Open, while 23-year-old Tom McKibbin won the Hong Kong Open a few weeks later at the Hong Kong Golf Club.
28-year-old Naoyuki Kataoka of Japan further solidified the Asian presence in the tournament by winning the Japan Open on October 16, and joined this exclusive group.
One of golf's oldest trophies, the Australian Open, was awarded to Denmark's Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, earning him his place. The youngest member of this group, 22-year-old Casey Jarvis, was the latest to win the European South African Open.
The international golf world has designed this calendar addition as a much-desired and long-awaited connector of regional brilliance to the pinnacle of the game.
All eyes will be on these five young international stars at the 2026 Master Tournament. It will be played from April 6 to April 12, at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.
