Former USWNT Star Alex Morgan Says the Push for Women’s Golf League Didn’t Happen Overnight

The former U.S. women’s national soccer team standout, Alex Morgan, has now stepped into the world of golf. She has taken up a leading role to further enhance the sport for women.
Morgan’s investment firm, Trybe Ventures, has now become the lead capital partner in the Women’s Team Golf League, a new indoor team golf competition slated to debut in winter 2026. But it took her a long while.
Talking about the perfect timing, she said, “Being really close with TMRW Sports and TGL over the last couple of years, we have been pushing hard for a WTGL—I don’t think there’s any secret about that."
This league is under development and aims to recreate the momentum witnessed at Tomorrow’s Golf League.
“I really do think women’s golf has this massive opportunity to just blow up in the way that—over the last few years—we’ve seen in basketball and soccer in the U.S.,” the former USWNT star told Front Office Sports.
Just like TGL, the WTGL will feature LPGA golfers forming the teams. However, the number of members in each team and the number of teams in each season is still a mystery. But as per the LPGA commissioner Craig Kessler, it’s supposed to create a “global stage” for the athletes.
Well, this isn’t Morgan’s first rodeo in golf. Of course, people have seen her swinging and celebrating on multiple occasions. But investing in indoor golf? She previously invested in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL. Specifically, she put her money on the inaugural Los Angeles team.
But the San Diego Wave star has been aiming at women’s golf, as well.
Alex Morgan Wanted to Get Involved in Women’s Golf for a Long While
Talking to Fast Company a couple of years ago, Morgan revealed, “Golf has become a family hobby. So, [investing in LAGC] was a no brainer. It’s something I wanted to be a part of.”
“I’ve had many conversations with LPGA Tour Commissioner Mollie [Marcoux Samaan]. Getting women involved is something that’s very important to me. We’re gonna make it happen. When? I hope soon.”
