Happy Gilmore 2 Cameo Marked a Special Full-Circle Moment for Charley Hull: Here’s How

“It was such an honor to be part of this film and try something totally different to my day job,” quoted Charley Hull as she thanked Adam Sandler for the “memorable experience” in Happy Gilmore 2. However, the real story is a surprising connection she has to the original film, a fact recently revealed in an interview.
About four months ago, Hull appeared on an interview with Sky Sports’ Kelly Cates on The Pursuit podcast.
She pointed out that the first Happy Gilmore movie was released in the year Hull was born – 1996. This fact marked a full circle surrounding Charley Hull and Happy Gilmore.
“I know. That's crazy,” Hull said on The Pursuit. But has she seen the original movie? Hull told The Pursuit, “I’ve seen the original. And it’s actually pretty cool to be in the second one. I never thought I’d be in a movie. So, that’s kind of a bit of fun.”

Cates also remarked that the English golfer was a “Hollywood superstar” thanks to Sandler’s movie. “That’s too funny,” she answered. “I wouldn’t say I’m a Hollywood superstar. But it was a long day of filming, but it was pretty fun.”
Fellow golfer Nelly Korda, who also made a cameo, said something similar about how long it can take even film a short scene.

While competing at the 2025 AIG Women’s British Open, Korda claimed that she planned to watch the movie sometime later that week.
"It was so cool getting to meet Adam Sandler, getting to be part of that process, and actually seeing how difficult acting is from that point of view," she confessed.
"That scene with Shooter was amazing to see just from my point of view, his acting, and how much it takes. That scene took all day. It was like a 20-second scene," she added, while praising those who do it for their living.
"The appreciation for their lifestyle and their job definitely grew for me. For me, it was just so cool to be a part of, and getting to do it with Nancy (Lopez) is a lot of fun too," said Nelly Korda.
Charley Hull was equally humble. She admitted that it’s “definitely safe to say I couldn’t be an actress.” Nevertheless, the movie was a success.
With golfers like Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, and many others in the cast, it surpassed 46.7 million views on Netflix in the first three days after its July 25, 2025, release.
